lets see if this one works.... had to delete and post again

I got this from one of my psychology tribes and thought it was interesting because I feel like Im on a mission somtimes to figure out why I have ADD and my sister does not... and so forth. It a little long but good and better towards the end when it gets into ADD and other " disorders"

what do you think? How do you feel about it?
Have you come up with your own theories?

    the linked worked, thanks.

I did have a hard time reading the whole article, because of the ADHD, but I did search the word ADHD to get down were it discusses it.

That being said, I think there are a number of factors which one person will get ADD and a sibling doesn't. I think my sister may have a more minor form of ADD but I can't be too sure. I do know that I was born 2 weeks late, and it would have been born by C-section if my birth happened about 10 years later. I suspect that that may have had a role in my disability. I also felt that I was neglected by my parents, but my older sister seemed to get a lot of attention. As far as I am concerned, this threw me further behind the learning curve, but I am not sure that the ADHD itself was made worst, it did make my life more difficult.

I do know that there are other factors that can either bring on ADHD, or make it worst. Lead plays into it, and often poor children are more likely to be exposed to lead than their wealthier counterparts. Poor nutrition sometimes may make it worst. Mothers may have gotten sick during pregnancy and so forth.

Interesting because I was born late and with complications ..
they used those old forcepts to pull me out ..
in addition to that trama, being molested was another type of trama...
it shows trama to be a key in ADD ...
      and memory
and the greater development of the right as opposed to the left hemisphere of the brain...

      >The left hemisphere is specialized for perceiving and expressing language, the right hemisphere for processing spatial information and also for processing and expressing negative emotions.<<

      > Those with a history of abuse appeared to use predominantly their left hemispheres when thinking about neutral memories and their right when recalling an early disturbing memory. Those in the control group had a more integrated bilateral response. <

It was very long to read and I skipped here and there...
personally.... I was intelligent but struggled in school anyway..... very bad memory and anything requiring sequential order was my nemesis... my parents just saw it as a being stupid... I heard that very often.
My parent s ......not very emotional and distant., critical and strict.... favored my sis who was " normal"
nutrition was fine and no lead for us...

I just want to understand it but they have no real evidence , just theories.
      mmmmmmm..oh well

thanks a bunch for you response.
